We
were over at Record Archive on East Avenue for the the unveiling
of RoCo's Art-O-Mat
on Saturday night and we ran into some friends who were hungry.
We suggested the new Lorraine's on Culver. We ordered some sweet
potato fries and ran into Susan
Plunkett from the old Jazzberries. It was near ten when a
bunch of hip-hop kids started showing up. The waitress told us
they were having a Break Dancing Event so we grabbed a seat at
the bar. The DJ set up under the big TV and pulled out an old
Stevie Wonder album to kick things off. We couldn't believe our
ears as he segued into Doug E Fresh and Anita Ward, The Treacherous
Three, The Funky Four Plus One More and James Brown. Most of these
kids were half our age and they were playing old vinyl right out
out of our musty old collection. We had the time of our lives. |
