hi gang,

we are now in the u.s. virgin islands where email is FREE for us so now is the time to write.

we spent a month in the british virgin islands. lots of sunshine, a dolphin swimming around the anchored boats, roti at the roti palace on tortola, our favourite! we were very laid back, lazy really. saw our friends nic and shelly who left a while ago to deliver a boat to newport. they will be returning with their own boat. have met lots of cruisers from all over.

we had to send our sails back to canada for some adjustments so we were sailless in paradise but they should be back in a few days.

we,re hoping to make it to puerto rico in time for opsail 2000, the big tall ships event, where we are supposed to be the official canadian representative. typical canadian understatement, little taio in amongst huge tall ships over 300' long.

we moved over to st john, u.s.v.i. a few days ago and anchored off caneel bay, the rockefeller resort. we went ashore there, a really beautiful spot, the best thing being the stone ruins of an old sugar mill.

now we,re in red hook, st thomas where our friends ellen and jeff have a beautiful big steel charter schooner. we,ve gone out with them a few days and it,s great to be out there sailing. they,re doing the whole opsail thing all the way up the u.s. east coast which should be a blast.

a couple of nights ago, the beach boys played here and we could hear them from taio and simultaneously watch a great fireworks display over on st john. kinda fun.
