gift shops at both shrines were a treasure trove of delights.
This beautifully designed pamphlet on the left was 75 cents
at the shop in Fonda. And in Auriesville we bought a Spanish
language comic book illustrating the lives of the seven Jesuit
martyrs. |

asked the woman at the desk where the original painting (shown
in a reproduction over her right shoulder) hung and she said
she had no idea. We found it in the chapel across the street. |
